What time can I check in and check out?
Check-in: from 4 p.m.
Please send us an e-mail in good time if you’ll be arriving after 6 p.m.
Check-out: 10.30 a.m.
If you arrive in the morning, you can leave your luggage with us and head out to enjoy your first day in the mountains.
Is there a minimum stay?
There’s a minimum stay of 3 nights until mid-December and from the last week in March, as well as in summer.
During the rest of the winter season, the minimum stay is one week, from Sunday to Sunday.
Shorter stays are possible upon request and subject to availability, as well as for last-minute deals.
Please note: A supplement of €5.00 per person per night is charged for shorter stays.
How can I get my luggage to the hut?
If you’re staying at the Friedrich August in summer, you can reach the hut by car and bring your luggage with you.
In winter, we’ll take care of transporting you and your luggage from Mt Col Rodella or Passo Sella/Sellajoch pass to our hut with our pre-scheduled transfer services.
What does half board include?
Our half board includes a rich breakfast buffet and dinner with a set menu featuring a choice of main course. Upon request and with prior notice, you can also choose dishes à la carte. In this case, the price of the half board will be deducted from the total cost of your dinner.
At what time are meals served?
Dinner is served at 7 p.m. for guests staying overnight at the hut. Breakfast is from 7.30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Do the rooms have a private or shared bathroom?
Our Panoramic Superior and double rooms with private bathroom are the only categories with en-suite bathrooms. The Family rooms and other doubles have a shared bathroom. The 3 shared bathrooms, located on the ground floor, have been beautifully renovated and feature a shower and washbasin. Outside the bathrooms, there are also 2 further washbasins with mirror and hairdryer.
Can I park at the Friedrich August?
If you’re staying with us in summer, you can drive directly up to the hut and leave your car in our supervised car park. If you’re visiting us in winter, you can park free of charge in our car park near Carlo Valentini mountain refuge at Passo Sella/Sellajoch pass. We’ll then pick you up from there with our transfer service and bring you directly to our hut.
Can children stay at the mountain refuge?
We’re happy to welcome children from the age of 12 at the Friedrich August. Please note that children are charged the same rate as adults.
How does the snowcat transfer work?
As the hut is otherwise only accessible on skis, we’ll be delighted to bring you to the hut by quad for check-in and check-out. We can travel between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and between 4 p.m. and 6.30 p.m., when the slopes are less busy. If you’ll be arriving any later, please let us know in good time.
With the exception of your day of arrival and departure, an extra fee is charged for transfers made during your stay.
Can I bring my pet?
We’re happy to welcome your pets during the summer season and charge a supplement of €20.00 per day.
Are there any additional charges?
We charge an additional 30% on top of the base rate for double rooms for single use.
For the Family rooms, which can accommodate a maximum of 4 guests, we charge the same rate for 3 or 4 people.
If there are only 2 of you sharing a Family room, we charge an additional 30% per person.
There is a supplement of €5.00 per person per night if you stay less than the minimum number of nights.
Is there a tourist tax in the mountains?
In addition to the room rate, a tourist tax of €1.50 per night is charged for each guest aged 14 and over. This tax can only be paid on site.
How can I pay? Do I need to pay a deposit?
To confirm your reservation, we ask for a deposit amounting to 30% of the total rate, to be paid by bank transfer.
The remaining amount can be paid in cash or by credit or debit card directly at the hut.
What happens if I have to cancel my stay?
Cancellation is free of charge up to 30 days before arrival. After this period, your deposit will be retained.
From 7 days before arrival and in the event of late arrival or early departure, we charge the full cost of the booked stay.
