Piccolo Cir/Kleine Cirspitze & Gran Cir/Grosse Cirspitze via ferratas
At Passo Gardena/Grödner Joch pass, a quick walk with views of the Sella group and Mt Sassolungo/Langkofel takes you to via ferratas that let you scale two peaks of the Cir group, Piccolo Cir/Kleine Cirspitze and Gran Cir/Grosse Cirspitze. You descend partly via the same route as the ascent before easily finding the path that takes you to the col where the second via ferrata begins. This route has fewer secured sections, in some places a normal path, and leads to the highest peak of the Cir group boasting a spectacular 360° view of the surrounding valleys and mountains.
Tridentina via ferrata
Just under Passo Gardena/Grödner Joch pass, you’ll find the starting point of a via ferrata that takes you into the heart of the mountains: into the Sella group, all the way to Mt Pisciadù. With a little luck, you’ll be able to see its lake, which is now almost always dry. The via ferrata is famous for its long ladder sections and the suspension bridge over a deep gorge. Another highlight is the passage through a narrow, rocky valley with surprising acoustics.
Delle Trincee via ferrata
Starting at Fedaia pass, you first walk to Porta Vescovo, where the Delle Trincee via ferrata begins. Treating you to spectacular views of Lake Fedaia and Mt Marmolada/Marmolata, this via ferrata takes you back in time, showing you the trenches (the “trincee” that gave the via ferrata its name) built here during the First World War. These extend across the mountain and make this a one-of-a-kind experience.
Mt Catinaccio d’Antermoia/Kesselkogel via ferrata
A via ferrata in an almost lunar landscape, which can be reached on a demanding hike leading to Principe pass. From there, the via ferrata stretches across the rockfaces, letting you get up close and personal with the mountain.
Once you’ve arrived at the summit cross, you can enjoy the stunning view of Lake Antermoia and the majestic mountains all around.
